🧬 3D Scientific Model of a Plasmid — C4D Source Files (RS Rendering)
High-precision, standard 3D model of a closed-loop DNA double helix; source file in C4D format; rendered with Redshift; accurately depicts the circular topology and refined optical texture of the plasmid, empowering visualization in molecular biology, genetic engineering, and the life sciences.
📌 Model Overview
A plasmid is a circular, double-stranded DNA molecule found outside the bacterial chromosome that is capable of self-replication; it is one of the core tools of modern molecular biology. As the cornerstone of gene cloning, vector construction, and protein expression, plasmids are ubiquitous in genetic engineering, synthetic biology, and medical research. Their classic closed circular double-helix structure—composed of a phosphate-deoxyribose backbone and complementary base pairs—is not only an iconic illustration in biology education but also a core visual element that frequently appears in scientific papers, grant proposals, and academic presentations.

✨ Key Highlights
🧬 A standard closed-loop double helix, faithfully reproduced
Based on a standard Type B DNA double helix, the model accurately reconstructs a closed circular topological structure. The two main chains spiral around the circumference of the ring, with base pairs arranged uniformly perpendicular to the helical axis. The helical rhythm is gentle and natural, and the symmetry and curvature of the circular structure transition smoothly. The model depictsStandard Closed-Loop Double Helix, without introducing any additional supercoiled topological changes, it remains faithful to the fundamental structural characteristics of the plasmid as a closed circular DNA molecule.
💜 Gradient color scheme with distinct layers
AdoptTranslucent blue skeleton + purple/magenta gradient base pairsThe color scheme, whichNo specific scientific meaning, designed solely for visual appeal and to distinguish between layers. The blue of the backbone exhibits a subtle translucency under different lighting angles, while the purple-to-magenta gradient of the base pairs enriches the visual rhythm of the image. This color scheme clearly distinguishes the plasmid backbone from its base components in research illustrations or presentations, striking a balance between professionalism and aesthetic appeal.
✨ Redshift professional rendering, with outstanding texture quality
With the help of Redshift GPU-accelerated renderer, a carefully crafted semi-transparent material has been applied to the model—the skeleton features a soft, glass-like texture with a Fresnel sheen along the edges, while the base pairs exhibit subtle diffuse reflection and faint transmission effects. The multi-angle lighting system perfectly highlights the three-dimensional layers of the ring-shaped structure, the sense of depth in the helix, and the optical differences among the various components. The rendering is background-free and can be directly exported as a transparent PNG, making it convenient for post-production compositing.

💬 About this model
The challenge in modeling circular plasmids lies in achieving a smooth circular closure while maintaining the precise geometric relationships of the double helix. When conventional linear DNA models are directly bent into a circle, distortion or uneven base-pair spacing often occurs at the junction. During the construction of this model, by precisely controlling the helical pitch, the radius of curvature of the loop, and the radial distribution of base pairs, we ultimately achieved a uniform transition of the double helix within a circular topology. Taking into account the characteristics of the Redshift renderer, the material system for the translucent skeleton and gradient base pairs was finely tuned to achieve the optimal balance between scientific accuracy and visual appeal.
The model includes only the plasmid itself and does not include other auxiliary elements such as ribosomes, proteins, or restriction enzyme sites, allowing you to add or combine them as needed. We are committed to providing the scientific community with high-quality 3D visualization resources. If you have any questions about the model or would like to request custom models of other nucleic acids, proteins, or DNA-protein complexes (such as supercoiled plasmids, linear DNA, or nucleosomes), please feel free to contact us at any time.
